Do I need a license for Uppbeat music and assets?
RachelCreator Support SpecialistUppbeat makes usage simple and hassle-free! Here’s how it works:
Your subscription covers usage – By signing up for an Uppbeat account, you agree to our usage policy, which outlines the dos and don’ts for using music, sound effects, and motion graphics.
How music licensing works – Every music download comes with an Uppbeat Credit linked to your account. If you're on the Free plan, paste this credit into your video description to prevent copyright claims on YouTube. Or, upgrade to Premium or Business to safelist your YouTube channel, allowing you to use Uppbeat music without adding credits. (See our YouTube copyright FAQ below for more details.)
Uppbeat is built to make licensing simple and creator-friendly, so you can focus on what matters - bringing your content to life ✨
How do I avoid YouTube copyright claims?
LuluCreator Support LeadUppbeat is partnered with YouTube, making it easy to use our music without copyright issues. Here's how:
If you're on the Free plan:
• Each time you download a track, you'll receive a unique Uppbeat Credit.
• Simply paste this credit into your video description to prevent claims.
• Each credit is valid for one video only, so you'll need a new one for each upload, even if you're using the same track.
If you have a paid subscription (Premium or Business):
• You can still use Uppbeat Credits, or
• You can safelist your YouTube channel, allowing you to use Uppbeat music without needing to add Credits.
• Premium users can safelist up to 3 channels.
• Business users can safelist up to 10 channels.
The copyright system only applies to music - there's nothing to do when using sound effects or motion assets.
Check out our Copyright Safe Center for more info avoiding copyright issues.
How do artists get paid?
DanoCreator Support SpecialistAt Uppbeat, we’re committed to fairly compensating the creators behind our assets. Here’s how our payment system works:
• Revenue sharing - The majority of revenue from Uppbeat Premium subscriptions and other sources goes directly to our contributors.
• Downloads = Payments – Every time you download a track, sound effect, or motion graphic - whether you’re on a Free or Premium plan - the contributor earns a payment.
• Why this matters – Unlike many other platforms that buy-out content rights, Uppbeat allows contributors to keep full ownership of their work while earning ongoing revenue.
By using Uppbeat, you're not just getting high-quality creative assets - you’re directly supporting independent musicians, sound designers, and motion graphic artists 💙
